Mum's Review of the Baby Trend Flex Lock Galexy Infant Car Seat:

We bought the Baby Trend Single Snap N' Go Stroller for our baby, who was born in December, 2007.  I had done hours and hours of research to decide which car seat would be safe and sturdy enough for our precious little one.  I decided on this one because of the Consumer Reports safety rating being the highest for any car seat.

Appearance:

The seat alone is made very well and covered in a tough, reflective mesh material that reminded me of a really good pair of tennis shoes.  The material definitely gives the seat a sporty appearance, perfect for a little boy.

Construction:

This particular car seat is very well made.    The carry handle is triangle shaped so, I found it to be more comfortable to hold and carry.  It also makes turning Baby around a bit easier.  The rubber handle is quite thick.  Unlike some other car seats, the release for the car seat is in front, rather than in the back.  I never had any problems with this, but I've read some bad reviews where people didn't like the feature.

Ease of Use:

Once we got the base properly attached to the car, all we had to do was snap the car seat into place and lower the handle.  The handle did stick sometimes when the seat was in the car but I found that the buttons on the sides needed to be pushed all the way in to get the handle down.  Once I made sure to press the buttons in all the way, I didn't have any more problems with the handle sticking.

When it is time to take the baby out of the car, all you have to do is press the release button and pull the seat out and carry Baby with you.

I never tried the seat in a shopping cart, but we bought the Baby Trend Single Snap N' Go Stroller and used the basket in the bottom as a shopping cart for small orders.

Price:

It would be nearly impossible to beat the value of this car seat.  The price is under $100, the seat looks great, is made well, and the safety ratings will give you peace of mind.

Safety:

Consumer Reports did an independent crash testing on car seats and this car seat was the seat rated #1 in safety.  This was a major perk for us, as our baby is absolutely priceless.  The seat was heavy and solid too.  I always felt that my baby was safe in this seat.

Cons:

The handle is coated in thick rubber as well, which made the handle non-slip, but a bit more difficult for me to wrap my hand around.  We had a heavier than usual baby and the weight of this seat, combined with the weight of our baby, made it a little difficult for me to carry.

Rating:

I would definitely recommend this car seat and, on a scale of 1 through 10, I would rate this seat a 9.  I hated to replace this seat but our baby grew out of it, which sort of forced us to buy another one.  :)
